The start of fashion week was a flurry of activity, creative and hectic. I am new to this. The excitement of it all is palpable and hits you like a ton of 24 karat gold bricks. Backstage saw gaunt models running around amidst photographers, stylists, make-up artists, Karla Otto production assistants and a table full of dainty cupcakes, gummy bears and mini-quiche (alas! i now know what models eat). As my co-workers complained of their aching feet in 4.5 inch heeled booties, we still had a laugh and anticipated the show that was about to begin.
I was the most smitten with the looks from Thakoon's Fall 2009 RTW collection that included brightly colored dyed furs. They made me sigh and think of some of Nick Cave's most recent Soundsuits that I had the pleasure of experiencing alone recently at Jack Shainman Gallery.
